Stannah offer their customers an outstanding range of commercial products, with a reassuring wealth of lift expertise.  The company provide various products like escalators, moving walkways, passenger lifts, platform lifts, goods and service lifts, refurbishment of existing lifts and new bespoke lifts, all delivered with outstanding customer service to building professionals. Now in the 21st century, the Stannah Group sells more stairlifts than any other company in the world.

The Stannah is a giants corporation with multiple business verticals having thousands of users connecting through Intranet portal. Stannah was serving its intranet portal using Websphere portal technology since many years now. Attune Infocom came in to contact with Stannah offering a feature rich open source Portal framework and introduce Liferay as a perfect match to their requirement. Team Attune has taken an initiative to look at existing portal build on Websphere and developed similar functionality in to Liferay Portal customization and development efforts.

Business Case

* News Portlet, Sports and Social Portlets

The last 4 news items displayed when click on a link to get the details about the news item.

Hovering over the image to enlarge it, users are allowed to add comments to the news item and                  a count of the number of comments will appear on the summary view on the homepage.

Click event on the back to news list on the top right it will take to a list of all the news items added.

To get to the above screen from using the menu on the home page or by clicking on theAll Newslink

Impact
In news portlet user can not comment for news.

Implementation Success using Liferay

> The user can create the news content from the liferay web content management of type news.

> Create template for filling the news content in the web content management.

> Use asset publisher portlet to populate news type web content, the portlet will be modified to   imitate current news functionality and UI.

> Using this user add comment for specified news

* Careers Portlet

Careers are added and a summary view is available the same as the news, however users are not allowed to add comments against the career requirements.

Impact
Here comments were not required so remove comment functionality.

      Implementation Success using Liferay

User can create the career content from the liferay web content management of type career.

Create template for filling the career content in the web content management.

Use asset publisher portlet to populate career type web content, the portlet will be modified to imitate current career functionality and UI.

Disable comments from the asset publisher settings.

* Blogs Portlet

User are able to add blog entries, a list of the most recent ones are on the home page, we would like to see the number of comments made against the blog on this page.

Clicking on the blog link will take you to this page below, which has the details of the blog.

Users are able to create heading for there blog and then blog several times under that main heading.

User will also be able to subscribe to the blog so they are notified when a new entry or comment is made.

Impact
When clicking blogs, it display on normal page but required to display separate page with maximized stage.

Customize Liferay message board for this functionality

Use Asset publisher portlet to display the recently message from message board portlet

* Restaurant Menu

When clicking on Restaurant link from the Home menu the below page will appear, only the canteen Manager (Group) will be allowed to add / delete  items to the menu.
The links on the right are links to either word or PDF documents.

Impact
Creating and Defining Canteen manager role to add / delete.
User can only able to see Restaurant menu.

Implementation Success using Liferay

Use liferay web content to create restaurant menu.
Create portlet called Restaurant portlet. Which will have add / delete button for create and delete item. Clicking add will take the Canteen manager liferay web content creation.
User can select the template for restaurant and type as restaurant.
Saving the web content will come back to view page, Which show all restaurant item.

* Discounts and Offers

This provides a list of discounts to other companies products.

Impact
Define roles which user do it.

Implementation Success using Liferay

Create a portlet to dispay discount and offers.

The contents can be created with web content portlet.

This is done by Admin user.
